We learned why Seattle is so green and hence it’s name the Emerald City. Off and on sprinkles chased us in and out of buildings all morning. Linda’s first visit to SeattleI( at least beyond the airport walls) so DeeDee expertly directed Linda where to go. She’s been wanting to do that for days.
From the ship we walked to Pike Place Market to see the beautiful flowers, crafts, jewelry and YES fish. For those who follow the fish philosophy, it is a happy place with luscious smells and tasty treats to indulge in.
On to the Space Needle and a 360 degree view of Seattle. And of course a Starbucks at the tops but no Elv. The view was spectacular even though the design of the structure seems to make it a natural wind tunnel and walking on the outside can be a challenge especially while it is so desperately trying to rain.
The Seattle Center is at the base of the Space Needle and has much to do for families and shoppers. A sunny, warmer day would have made it more enjoyable. Also housed there is the Experience Music Project, a huge decorative center where one could spend a whole bunch of time reliving the roots of rock.
Also at Seattle Center is one end of the monorail, which we took back to the other end at the Westlake Center Mall. Down the stairs and hills back to Pike Place Market to sample some fried shrimp and purchase a bouquet of flowers.
Walked back to the ship where we quenched our thirst and rested our weary dogs. Time to rest before dinner…AND it is now 5 o’clock not just somewhere but here on the ship. Know what that means? Cheers!
