After a luscious breakfast at Joanie’s Happy Days Diner, we headed to the port. Our platinum status moved us to the front of the line past the hoards of RCI virgins. After locating our digs we were very pleased with our Junior Suite. It has more room (shelves, closets, drawers, shower) than either one of us has home. (Sorry Jane)
Serenade of the Seas is a smaller ship than we have sailed before but it is every bit as plush and splendid as we expected. Christened in 2003 it still looks brand new. We are still sampling the bars, exploring the decks and searching for our favorite ‘hunting ground.” (Brendan and Rob we miss you and the Viking just isn’t the same)
Ran into a familiar face as we boarded the elevators…Jacinta White, the lovely Aussie girl that was part of the cruise activities staff doing bingo and such. She recognized us as well and explained that she had just transferred here from the Mariner. This is her first sail to Alaska as well.
Leaving SF, we sailed past Alcatraz and under the Golden Gate Bridge for a totally new view. Not anticipating any ‘sun worshipping’ we expect to take full advantage of the inside activities and opportunities.
